Hello everyone is the first time I write and my name is Giuseppe.
I have a small problem, for the examination thesis I need to create a 3d smoke barrel on the model there are, I also found and chose the material that I need (reflective shiny steel) but I think I mistake something in the septement of rendering, especially the lights. In fact, from the attached image you can notice how my chimney despite being reflective steel does not reflect anything anxi turns dark. with the addition of a spotlight the situation has improved, but still seems a chimney in glossy plastic and not in steel. I would like to get the result that you see in the attached second image.
I apologize if my thread is repetitive, but I preferred to write as having selected the predefined material (reflecting steel) my problem is not the material in itself but something related to the rendering that I do not set well (I believe the lights). Can you help me? possible before June (date of the exam?) thank you!

physical, the second image gives you a more realistic sense because it is immersed in a context.
the sphere reflects the floor on which libra and the sky of the background

If you put your chimney in the deepest hyperspace, what could you think? only the nothing surrounding it (and actually does it). you want to put lights, you will see only more or less bright, at the max a dot on the surface (that the reflection of the light itself).

Could you be a little clearer? I use autocad but in the lick you gave me it is about bim revit etc, could you "guide me"? Thank you and excuse ignorance!
You have to change my signature. :frown:
what you read below is my signature!!! !

exactly what I meant... there is nothing to reflect :biggrin:

physical, try to set the following variables and raise the render:

perspective = 1
lightingunits = 1
defaultlighting = 0
sunstatus = 1
skystatus = 2

p.s.: autocad version?

Then I will try to put some objects to remake, even if I would like to make the rendering of the barrel alone in the academy and then put it in a photo for the exam.
Couldn't you realize the rendering of the only chimney with the same result as the second photo?
I am also trying to change the parameters you have reported to me, even with the help of the autocad guide, but no I find them, cmq I have the version of autocad 2012.
I thank you for your answers and apologize if they are a bit rude with autocad and also with the thread.

Have patience...but you will also see that in the 2nd image the sphere reflects exactly what is around. What the hell do you want me to think about? I'm afraid you don't understand what happens during a rendering. .

instead of reflection you can use a channel with a material that simulates it.

OK there are, but, I must insert these chimneys into a photo insert on the facade of a building. Sorry, what I don't understand, I want a shiny effect, which must not reflect any image in particular, I want a shiny, chesso like a harley pot, inside what I can make a cloudy sky reflect (at least I would have a uniform effect). and also wanting to give him this blessed context in which to re-flect, how do you "emerge" the chimneys in this "reality" to reflect?. thanks again and excuse me for the trouble...:smile:

if you used a "autodesk material" steel then you can not do it. should use a generic material. If you want to explain to him how to do... :wink:

you explain to me....
I read your link but it doesn't explain anything, it talks about bim vray revit etc!!!!
Did you fall for the truth? :smile::finger:

Here, interesting, how do you do it in the spicifrico? (please explain it to me:redface: step by step thank you!!! )
If you use 3d autocad, put in the room channel the image attached and unleash a little.
Of course tristan is right if you use the reflection and there is nothing to reflect.....
