a long time ago, I felt like refusing an old passion that I had been able to discuss with my friend Tequila. navigating, I found a store in the iceland that had still available a kit now introvabile, a beautiful u212.
here are the first photos of the boat in pre-set phase for the verification of the individual components.

Hello
Hello dear shi.
No, it doesn't. I have always confined myself to static modeling but with some satisfaction :-) (some shows I have won it years ago even if I have always made terrestrial and diorami means)

212 was a "fixed nail" long ago. When I decided, I don't know why, the model of the revell, the only one on the boat, had become unavailable until I saw it in an English site.
I ordered it and paid (very little if you also consider shipping costs from the "Albion Challenge") and I saw it delivered after three days.
Excellent!

the graphics of the box is familiar to me. . Is it a revell?

@shire
I don't think it works, they're static models.

If you want to go crazy. . . http://www.bilanciozero.net/beach/index.asp?id=151&mac=104&mn=221
Thank you very much, I had already seen the change on the subject but to me dynamic models have never driven mad so my 212 will remain forever in the dry dock (it could be an idea :-) )
Yes, the model is revell in scale 1/144. It is however a boat of almost 40 cm that makes its discreet figure when assembled and colored correctly. Fortunately I know 212 well (I have climbed there several times) so I realize to make it a faithful copy.

you work alacremente in my yard....
today evidence of various periscopes and antennas.
P4300167.webpyou will probably have to work with a bit of paper and stucco.. .

Good job:
Thank you, but we wait to see the end:-)

Now I am busy rebuilding the via lights as from photo, as those of the box are fancy and absolutely different from the original.
other difficulty is to determine the color of the hull that is not indicated anywhere. Neither did the builder know how to indicate the federal standard.. .gallery_1692_8_166634.webp

an update on the work.
P5120012.webpAs things too easy do not like, I thought to reproduce the 212 in the following post photo configuration then, with the "open" dash and with out periscope and antenna. but the box offers 2 alternatives, all closed (diving configuration) or all open. to realize a "half way" I divided the two parts and recomposed them combining the pieces that most responded to the needs.
P5110009.webpthe prodier part of the top of the sail, presents the opening of the navigation plank in emergence. the piece of the kit is totally fancy. the opening in fact is not elliptical as in the model but trapezioidale. Fortunately I can have original designs so plasticard and stucco, and here's the new dashboard.
P5120013.webpin the last photo a comparison with a euro to realize the size. under the working piece, you see my design of the garritta, obtained from the original and scaled to the size of the kit.
microsurgery... :-)

In fact, the housings of the via lights of the kit are of absolute fantasy therefore, they impose their self-construction. also having opened the bridge, the "floor" of the same is too high. then, cut of the same and reconstruction at the correct height.

uhaaa has an office at home
ciao exa
ahahah... I have a lot of work tools because I've always been a "amanuense".
Over the years I learned to pull up a wall, plaster, make a floor or a countertop, make the brakes to the machine or change the pistons to the bike... I mean, I can handle it enough. in fact I restored it myself.
However, since school time, turning the lathe always has a passion for me. Now I do it in "mini" version:wink:

Now I put myself in the head of equipping the cellar so, workbench, microtornium, compressor and aerographs, and....

Hi, shi.
better a mini basin with its ship yard
I'll make you do it.
:4406:
good weekend exa...... .
Thank you very much

small update. there was a slowdown in the work due to other commitments but the yard continues in the works. here are the stages of self-construction of the garritta, of the interior of the sail and of the internal bulkheads.

continue:
the garritta is finished and mounted inside the sail. compared to the German version, the garritta of the 212 Italians presents a vertical door, slightly angled to the right, for the exit from the boat of our incursori.
in the photo you can see from the front opening of the sail.
red paint is like in the royal boat, it can occur in many photos present on line.DSC_0052.webpsin that seen the small scale (1:144) all work is practically invisible. for example the royal garritta presents on its left, a small metal ladder (from me reproduced with a photo engraving) now no longer visible.DSC_0050.webpFinally I mounted the top cover of the sail with access to the reshaped navigation plank in the correct form.DSC_0054.webpnow you go to the stucco.. .
