Hello everyone, I am new and this is my first post, I looked for the presentation section but I did not find it, I hope not to commit some infringement to the regulation by posting directly.

I'm a 3d chart, I've mainly dealt with rendering of product and various works on commission in the field of entertainment (rendering for advertising videogames, commercials etc.), I'm passionate about animation (my dream in the drawer but living in a totally disinterested territory and for economic issues for now remains such) and now, to expand my working possibilities on the territory (veneto), I'm evaluating to try also to propose in this field as cad.

I point out that the points to my disadvantage, I am perfectly aware of it, are the age, I am 35 years old, combined with the inexperience on the field and the fact that I do not possess skills in engineering and design.

I attended a technical institute in high school, I have the basics of technical design and good learning skills with sw 3d in general, so much passion and spirit of sacrifice.

I'm learning how to use solidworks and the scope where I'd like to work is mechanical or automotive.

I ask if for a situation like mine can be there, after a more thorough learning of sw cad, a outlet at a professional level as simple designer 3d cad/cam, always that there is a profession that involves the only drawing between the demands; Of course I know that I would come in the case considered as a beginner in the field and therefore I would not have any claims destroyed regarding the compensation etc.
my idea would be to propose me for temporary collaborations and then evaluate the way (or, however, according to what the territory offers of course), and in case things go well maybe even stop me and stay within, as in any case the 3d design I like regardless of the field.

Basically, what I ask is: are there any chances in your opinion or, according to my current state, would it be time lost?

Thank you in advance who would like to help me clear my ideas:)

as temporary collaboration in my opinion not.
if a company has a surplus of work and looks for an outside does not rely on a person to form.
Taking you on is hard given the lack of knowledge in the mechanical field but never say.

is the same concept behind the work of the chart: know how to use photoshop (to say one) does not mean knowing how to do a good graphic job if you do not have the knowledge of matching colors, proprortions and balancing of the objects of image, how to hit who looks and how to convey the idea, usability of the image, projective... And so many things I have no idea why I am ignorant about it.
for the designer is worth the same thing, he must know the norms of the technical drawing, know how to put the quotas correctly to give the right information, know tolerances of form and size and much more

I quote who preceded me, I add that it could be (in Veneto) that in a company we say "small" a presentation of the type "I'm mechanical expert graduated in 2000, I make 3d drawings for 15 years but I don't know how to use your software, I want to work in this field, I'm one who commits to learn and I am a slender with the computer" gives you some chance. avoid hr bim bum bam here quo la la la, go play the bells, carry resume (non-kilometric hope) and cross your fingers. Not that it's a very happy moment, but I wouldn't be afraid for you...

I have not understood the motivation .. do you think you earn more by making the mechanical designer than your current job? Designers start taking good salaries only after years of experience. then the speech is always the same: if in the company x come two resumes, yours and that of one who has been a mechanical designer for years, why should they take you?

I do not want to demoralize you, but frankly, these aspects come to my mind.

without counting, assuming that you are taken, the difficulties of the craft itself.

First of all, I thank you for the answers, all I had to hear is condensed in your messages.
I did not understand the motivation .. think you earn more by making the mechanical designer than your current work
no this no.. As my work, on the territory, at the moment it does not allow me to earn enough, I was thinking of extending my skills in order to be able to propose me also in this field, but I understand perfectly the perplexities, that I myself have, for this I wanted to see what would have been told by experts in the field.

it was exactly the idea that I had, but precisely between saying and making horsebeat.

I was considering doing a course of the Venetian enac on solidworks, but also here I wonder whether it is a reasonable expense given my situation

but if your dream in the drawer is the career as an animator why not propose to the software house rather than change completely within? ok is always "sign" but there is a world di differenza...

because unfortunately where I live (and for various reasons I am obliged to remain for now) animation is not a skill required.. and therefore I feel the need to acquire skills to make me at the moment more "expensable" on the territory

so much to chat: can you make rendering? Would you put them on? not that I can suggest you "fixed" clients, but sometimes someone asks me... where are you more or less?

Surely, model, texture and render in 3d study and maya.. I have worked repeatedly for companies here on my territory and in other fields.
now precisely modeling cad is a dowel that I would like to fill.

I am of felt in the province of belluno but I have contacts to padova wanting

proposing itself as rendering of 3d models has much more sense than as a mechanical designer.
parts with a knowledge of the graphic environment and its characteristics and you do not need to know anything about mechanics,.
companies that sell their own product have the need to make brochures, advertising, instruction manuals. . .

certainly, it is what I have done so far but now as I would like to create some skills to try eventually to get away from the vicious circle of the p.iva, or in any case to expand precisely my opportunities on the territory (as in the field in which I have worked so far the extemporaneity of the collaborations do it as a mistress)
