the municipality of San Sperote, in the province of cagliari has launched a design contest for the realization of the pedestrian bridge that crosses rio concias.
the contest of ideas is aimed at proposing and disseminating a public work that meets the
following criteria:
- communication needs and functionality of the country;
- example of public architecture that binds form, technology and tradition;
- ability to adapt to urban territorial change in continuous transformation;
- inclusion in the artistic and cultural context of the museum town.
the pedestrian bridge that crosses the rio concias and connects the roads via risorgimento and via rio concias, since it represents an important knot in the territory and could become, through careful requalification, one of the symbols of the country.
the objectives of the competition are as follows:
- to start a reflection on the theme bridge, which should become a symbol of the country: bridge as a union of opposites, bridge as a point of meeting and sharing, bridge between history and innovation, between old and new generations;
- to acquire design proposals that elaborate a new image of pedestrian bridge developing the natural artistic vocation of the place, giving preference to iron and wood;
- think the proposal in terms of sustainability and not only of feasibility, with particular
attention to the disabled;
- imagine a lighting system that is not only functional but gives body to a precise “form” symbol and art of the country;
the intervention in its complexity will have to give a unitary character of the two different areas, contributing to the identification and recognisability.
participation in the competition is open to architects, engineers, geometries or building experts, agricultural experts and agronomists currently enrolled in the albi of their professional orders.
the project proposal will have to arrive by the next 25 February 2010.
the municipal authority offers the following awards:
1st one thousand euros;
2nd ranked six hundred euros;
3rd ranked three hundred euros.
