advice on how to import 3d geometry on inventor

hi guys, I'm here for advice, I have to import a 3d geometry made with 3dmax and saved with dwg files..... It is a long stern of a sailboat, the design, obviously has no layers, but a unique and even precise design!!!! How can I manage the file with inventor???! helpp

I normally when I have these problems I send the step file much more manageable by inventor.
possibly open the dwg with 3dmax and expose it as step.
