allplan 2012

I would like to know, from who is using it, the novelties and improvements of the 2012 version of allplan.
I'm using 2009, but aware of the modest innovations, I wanted some opinions approved by designers, because the proclaims of the nem are often "very smoke and little roast".

hi, I work in a technical study and it has been for many years that I use allplan.
I recently downloaded 2012 (the content is still missing). the main novelty are the smartparts. are very interesting intelligence objects. some of these are installed by default and then you can download from allplan-connect (there are enough). In fact, for those who can program through scripts, you can create functions (so we go beyond the concept of macro).
then the reports have been modified (absolute news for those who use 2009) that in my opinion are really beautiful.
always for those coming from "data" versions there is the module on the renovation. new management of the quadri status (such as the layer). then in the novelty manual there are other small, but in my opinion, useful things.
I must emphasize that I have always found myself well with nemtschek and sincerely do not share your opinion on the fact that software development is all smoke. On the contrary, I think that nemetschek (and in particular nemetschek italia) with his assistance you always teach me some socks again (I often use it). even if it is for many years that I use the software I continue to discover unbelieving and very useful things.
Besides this I think that the idea of connect (allplan-connect portal) is great. allows you to access content always up-to-date, at the forum and I have seen (although I think I will not use) at the chat.
For me it is ok :finger:, but this is my modest opinion.

I have been using allplan since 1994, but sincerely (in proportion to the cost of the service contract), I have often received absolutely little "updated" releases and with modest implementations (which in my opinion did not justify the price).

As I told you, I personally have another opinion. I have "sposed" nemetschek just as a solution (almost as a partner that can follow me to 360°, e.g. with software like on site photo and on site survey), going beyond what could be the individual implementations of functions and commands of the various versions (which however are welcome and desirable). often my assistance contacts are also to ask for advice on how to proceed or what functions to use to perform a certain operation.

I agree with you however that the cost of updating and assistance is challenging, but I also have to say that I exploit it a lot (as I said in the previous post). beyond this is from June this year that I also follow free webinars for contract customers and also those open to all. I think that allplan connect also serves to give something extra in front of the cost of updating and assistance.
I'm sorry if I've stretched out, but you know... it's hard to write about opinions or concepts that might be clearer by talking about "four" :smile:
