Hello everyone, I am new in the forum.
I started using revit recently and I found myself in front of the first problem.
I should make a square arc section cable tube that serves to support a canopy of an external pvc corridor.
I would like to realize it so that it was parametric so that it could then reuse it.
I've tried a lot of times, but I haven't done it, let's say I can't make it as parametric as I want.
the parameters I would like to have are the radius of curvature (inside or outside) the section of the tube(h,b and thickness) and then the two angles to define the beginning and end of the tube (alpha and beta in the image).
what family do you recommend me to leave? use a route extrusion? can you parameterize the arc path?

You could start by creating a generic model. creates two reference plans bound by two parameters (stance) to manage your two cornersView attachment 47695creates an extrusion using "center-end arch" and binds the arc ends to the two tilted reference planes, also binds the center to the main reference axes (select the arc go to property and activate "visible central countersign"). creates a parameter to control the radius.
uses the offset command for the second arc and creates a second radius parameter. creates a third parameter depending on the two rays to manage the b thickness of the profile. once created the model associates the "end extrusion" parameter to a new h height parameter.

Thank you for trying to help me in the meantime.
this morning I picked up in rvt hand and managed to do something, which works as I want, using the reference lines to parameterize the path. now I miss to set something to parameterize the profile.

the family you want to do is possible, but no I recommend you have used the revit recently only.
another solution could be using a revit mep tube or a beam, you have the revit version that you have all the instruments (structural, instalation, etc.). with these instruments you would protect yourself to do what you want, easily.

However I managed to build the pipe after hours of work, slowly I learn new things.
