I was wondering what is the main function of a welded assembly and why you should convert a set into a welded one.

I'll explain better. I have always worked in standard assemblies using constraints to place and bind parts between them.

What is the advantage of the welding (in addition to the graphical representation of the drawings)? perhaps for the calculations of the fea form?

in the welded assembly you can do successive processing (holes, milling, bevels etc. ) as I was actually under a car ut.
your semi-finished irons or plates can be equal as size and cutting reference but with different holes, rationalizing the management of the particular.
Also in the unwelded assembly you can not indicate the material that therefore does not appear in separate.
