Hello everyone

as an unexperienced user both in nx and in teamcenter engineering I wondered if there are documents describing some "best practice" to follow in reference to:
  • how to manage two or more items with the same basic mathematics and with a single table 2d (for example a component with prefixed geometry and with different surface treatments)
  • two or more items of which one contains basic mathematics and others instead contain mathematics derived from basic mathematics (e.g. two parts of which one is a mirror of the other)
Thank you very much

nx documentation is almost exclusively provided by siemens .
There are no nx manuals except those provided by siemens (except sporadic cases )

if you are covered by maintenance contract you can try looking for something on the ugs server .
But I actually think what I do to your case is a course.
In fact, what you are referring to is basically the way to work with the master model technique, which is the basis of nx.

ipdesign, are regularly covered by maintenance contract and I know that the only existing manuals are those provided by siemens. I have already searched in all the documentation of the gtac and in the "student manual" that I have but not found answers... and unfortunately the courses tend to be extremely "generic" in their explanations.
At this point I will ask the hot line.

ps: I already work in master model.

then it is probably not clear what exactly your problem is.
as you exposed it seems that you need the basis of how to work best with the master model.

Moreover, it would be good education, since you are in the first post making a short presentation to give us a way to understand who you are and what level you have

ipdesign, your comments are correct. start to reponder yourself: name and surname you see them from my nickname;-), and work as responsible "methods and computing technologies" in a well-known Vicenza company that produces high-end components for bicycles (www.campagnolo.com). here we use nx5 as cad, for ansys calculations and recently I took the "big rock" to implement teamcenter engineering. personally I am not a very experienced user of nx5 (I use it for a few months), but I think I know at least the basics of master model design (I come from a few years experience with pro/e). My greatest perplexity concerns teamcenter, and I hope this is the best place to discuss them.
said this and finish the ritual presentations I try to bring some concrete questions:
  • I have an item (code) of a color component for example red. in this item there is mathematics (ugmaster) and table 2d (ugpart). now I want to create a new item (new code) characterized by the same geometry and the same table. in the table I have a zone of the cartiglio where the variants are defined: for example code 7123555 for red color, code 7123556 for yellow color. What is the best way to get this?
  • I have an item of a certain component (as before I keep divided the math ugmaster from the board ugpart). I want to create a new item containing the same geometry but mirrored (right and left version) and a new table. How to do that?
I think of a couple of answers, but I don't know if they have any contraindications.
for point 1 in the new item I could simply make a copy-paste of mathematics and possibly of the table. or is it better that I create a dataset ugpart with a linked body to the start ethem? I just don't know how to link the 2 codes into the table cartiglio!
for point 2 I could do a derived geometry file ugpart with a linked body to the first item and on that create another dateset ugpart with the table.

Thank you 10000000 (and I hope I've explained decently! )

If I understand what you need to get me to do this:
Cut out a new code where you cover the existing table by changing the directions to design for example the color and go in simlbly the same geometry (mathematic) update everything.

test

Hi.

Hi.
why do not code and as for example:
x.yyyy.xxxx.6 indicate red
.7 indicate grey
here we have a coding starting from a standard base
and changing the final numeretto indicates the color of the brand
we use both nx5 and teamcenter.
Of course I have no manuals.
I hope it's clear.
peace and good

This discussion is very interesting therefore as we do. with this I do not want to say that it is correct but that I want to help find the optimal solution. from us the codes of the relative parts and drawings (which usually coincide) are always referred to the raw semi-finished and do not appear in the production bom but only in that technique that is then "codified". in the management inside every code of the finish (in this case the painted) there is a field with the design code.

I hope I've been clear. regarding books on tc there is "teamcenter engineering and product lifecycle management basics" published by the design visionaires.

ps: since we are neighbors and we have been using tc for a few years maybe we can find ourselves.

for point 2 I could do a derived geometry file ugpart with a linked body to the first item and on that create another dateset ugpart with the table.

hi, just consider that if you create the linked mirror of the sx within the item
start dx you get a bom structure that binds one as son of the other.
If you don't want the start ether to be in the bom, you should do this:
-I'd grow solid to
-I'd like a support aid to which you give a new item
-positions solid to
- in the axieme create a new solid or positions a blank file b
make work part, not displayed, so you can see (and select)
also the solid to
- in the copy associative menu
-wave geometry link
-Mirror body
-click on solid to
-click on the symmetry plane
-You can choose to what timestamp stop the mirror
-Save everything.
-b is mirrored to the changes made to automatically
you reflect on b. if I don't remember bad for updating b
But you have to charge them both.

p.to 1 ) I would propose to have a code 712355_00 for the non-colored neutral part
and for each color/brand code we follow es 712355_01/02/03 etc.
this to avoid numerical limits to the colors (99 hope stick ) or versions
each new master encoded with this name will have a linked to the geometry of the neutral part. This to make sure that a modefca to the neutral part is reperquoted on all its daughter parts.
for the tables instead or we make only one where we insert all the variants in order to have on the table the unique distinction for all with all the codes
or if each version must have written in particular table I would proceed to make one by code with copy/paste and substitution to the flight of the linked part.

p.to 2 ) the procedure has been explained very well by reemulI would add, however, that for the table I would prefer to have loaded both details, to find them separate both of course with different codes, to have only one quoted and a note with the indication dx/sx, maybe in a 3d view I put them both for clarity.

then obviously every one has their own visions, but having more opinions maybe gives you a hand
