King 2005 was always considered the most beautiful, without doubt had a superlative charm and elegance.
was very fast but had structural problems at the tail and some high-speed flutter phenomena at the tail planes put in difficulty the prototypes.
the most efficient g 55 centaur of the fiat was preferred.

probably the high speeds (more than 700 km/h indicated) exposed the sagittarius (so called) to the phenomena of compressedness (local shockwaves) unknown and impossible to manage with a traditional design.

King 2001 was quite balanced, but it was a bit obliged by availability.
having a liquid-cooled and delicate engine like the db was not exactly the best for a "barred" use.
the Americans had made school and the Italian navy looked carefully overseas, but the Italian radials if they exceeded the 800 honest horses of the fiat were scurvy as the French progenitors, less noble of the English blood flowing into the fiat, and the piaggio as powerful failed as reliability.

for which the only reggiane useful for the Italian carrier was the re2001 excellent and compact air, of low weight, superlative value of the reggiane that became noble for the marina that had to enliven it on the bridges.

the "integral" wing of the cross reggia and delight of the base project, had condemned the reggiane (too unsafe having a wing full of fuel and going to fight) and the generals of the aviation had crooked the nose and imposed to overwhelm the project with the traditional "flexible" tanks.

I only interfere to say that I have always had a weakness for the "gobbo maledetto"; I don't know why, it wasn't a hunt, it wasn't beautiful, indeed, yet. .
Perhaps it will be the fascination of "a life as a median", the whole war has pipped from the beginning to the end, ending it in the comfortable specialty of aerosilurant (among other things they say it had excellent qualities of floatability!).
pricolo defined it so "difficult apparatus, said of good weather, because instabilissimo, in agitated air did not allow the steering wheel even for a single moment. was confused the instability with maneuverability"; and this was, I think, the longest and most effective aircraft available for directing in the war period.
