Hello everyone,
I just joined this forum and would like to put a problem on which I have been banging for a while. .
I should design and produce components with v5r20 but I should do the reverse path compared to the usual, namely: I must start from the tool, the tool path and the positioning of the same and generate geometry, instead of generating geometry and programming the tool path.

Do I have a chance to get out of it?

I thank everyone who has a little idea of how to do it.
Hola!

Before maybe we can help you, we'd like to understand why to take the opposite path.

Could you give us more information?

It is not very clear what you want to do......... cmq you can't mill "air" you must have some geometry, which of course you will do as you better believe x the milling , but this is normal , I also design parts that will be milled and the x project don't have problems in the workshop with the millings they have or who want to use the millers........................ .

The speech is this: I have to generate the geometry of a tool, e.g. a 4-cut milling mill or a drill bit, starting from a cylindrical crude and using a disc abrasive grinding wheel as a tool. being helicoidal geometries there is a bit to sort out to create the final geometry...and also the caia machining strategies (it seems...) do not have a whole set of parameters that instead are basic to make a tool (mola attachment angle, work point, etc.) and do not know how to replicate them.
on the other hand catia has the potential that software dedicated to the tool do not have (facilities of putting into the table, import/export of iges formats, step etc.), for which the project is to interface caia with cn in place of other software.
what I would like to understand is whether, defined the raw bar and the disc grinding wheel, I can tell the grinding wheel to enter the bar with a certain angle and for a certain length, generating directly the geometry with the path of the grinding wheel. would obviously be more immediate.
I hope I explained.

Hola!
hi.if I understood you well, starting from the "iso" file of the machine, generate a geometry cad (like a curve ) to rebuild your forms. is that so?

hi topguy, recovering after the summer holidays...no, I don't want to start from the iso file, I would like to do everything from caia modeling and working, at least for the generation of geometry and the path of the mola, from catia interface. the file iso account to generate it later; I'll explain.
I would like to be able to give the abrasive pier a path according to helical coordinates without necessarily generating an iso file, but only giving functional coordinates to the realization of geometry. so I have to realize the path as part of the modeling separately from the iso file.

for example: I create the models of the piece to work (a trivial cylinder) and abrasive grinding (a disk); generation of a spiral in solid environment, solid in the cylinder (so far there are); place the center of the grinding wheel in the x,y,z coordinates with respect to the axis of the raw bar; define the working point of the grinding wheel; bind the grinding point to move along the spiral "digging" consequently the cylinder along a helical trajectory.
only at this point I step to generate the iso file.
