If you don't have to handle sets consisting of a large number of parts and if you don't have to/you can manage the changes you want to make to the objects that you draw, maybe you don't want to go into a cad definitely very performant as sw. if I understood well you look for design of single parts or however of small sets composed by a few dozen details. choose an explicit cad and you will still get good quality surfaces, ready to build prototypes. rhino mathematicians, if engaged on complex surfaces, are not always accurate enough to be poured directly into cam. Obviously my does not want to be a negative judgement for sw, which is becoming the standard for the 3d as it once was autocad for the 2d, but it seems to me to understand that your requirements are not those for which sw was designed.
