autocad works on floors, and open the floors according to the pieces you need to draw, with solidworks, instead it seems to me that you have to draw all the parts separately and then create a set to join them.
It seems a little uncomfortable to create all parts separately. . .
I have to say that solidworks is very intuitive and excellent results also for a neophyte like me...

Yes, I just told you:
from insert > component > new part. .

read the online guide, help and do all the tutorials. It's all more than enough to learn the basics.
