Good evening, I have to make new templates for the table. I currently have separate folders per customer, within which to find a4-a3 files etc. with drwdot extension and corresponding files in the form of sldblk extension blocks. within each drwdot file there is the respective folder.
These cartilages have properties that are automatically updated, such as "designer" "data" "mass" etc and everything obviously works according to my expectations.
now I tried to create new templates, opening for e.g. the a4.drwdot file and saving it by name in the new folder, I opened this new file and saved by name the corresponding folder block always in the same folder. even before going to change the paper block this loses its properties "designer", "mass" etc. disappear.
I ask you, where am I wrong? ! ?

Thank you very much in advance

Why not save the cartilage, instead of as a block, as sheet format (slddrt)?
That means you will have un solo template drwdot e n slddrt formats as many as you need instead of having n template e n blocks. the convenience of management is obvious

to save the sheet format just go to the file menu and choose save sheet format.

is a widely discussed topic in the forum

to understand where your mistake is in your procedure you should be able to recreate the same situation, which is quite difficult.

First of all I thank you, because I solved my problem.
I created sheet formats and now I think I aligned with the correct procedure of solidworks.

Thanks again.

especially in this way if you have to change format you just have to do sheet ownership and select another one without losing anything work already done

In fact, I have already experienced the simplicity of the procedure.
Now if I have to change the cartilage from a series of drawings from old to new there is any chance that you can do it automatically?

This is also an argument already discussed and it seems to me that jenuary has made a macro.
but in those cases discussed it was simply a format change, while you must first delete the block that represented the cartiglio and then insert the sheet format, correct?
If that's how it gets complicated.
Moreover it must be verified that removing the block does not lose other information such as quotas or annotations
How many drawings are you talking about?

I searched but on the replacement I didn't find anything, maybe I did wrong search parameters.
what you say is correct, the drawings are made with the "old "system", will be 60-70

do an advanced search among user posts jenuary with keywords type macro, sheet cartiglio. . .

you can also do a test by registering a macro of the operations you perform
open the drawing
Launch macro recording and sequence operations
select block
eliminates blocking
save files

once made open another design and check the operation of the macro. from what I understand you have to work on a drawing with the block with the same name (I call it block format for convenience).

if it works you make a macro for each block format
later use the planning unit to launch the macro on multiple designs (divided into groups by block size)

if everything works, I don't put my hand on the fire, you just have to open the drawings and set the sheet. also for this you can try to record a macro with the same principle as the previous one.

Consider that I make it by hand a time of 5/10 minutes (depending on the complexity of opening) drawing which means about a working day.
evaluate whether between research, trials, attempts and other you agree to try to do it automatically or at a time manually

Thank you for the very detailed explanation. being a little refractory to automatisms in general, I would never trust a macro developed by me... I would say that the gearbox is the safest thing!
