for my great misfortune I am a graduate in architecture, but for a variety of reasons (which I am not here to list), I found myself working in the field of industrial design with the capital "i". where I had the great fortune to know and use a monstrous software like catia v5. definitely the most powerful software in the world, although the most complex to use, other than autocad 2d/3d or related, to have an idea of the potential of this program just look at the museum guggenheim bilbao of gehry or any single-seater of f1 or any boeing.

p.s.: rethinking us, the main reason that brought a graduate in arch. ( ke has made a bouquet so much with programs like autocad 3d, rhino and rhinoscript, pro/e and not only..) to work in the industrial field was the great percentage of "pseudoingegneri" mechanical graduates 110l assumed in reality also important in the automotive or aeronautical sector, but that to use the option of car I swear I saw it with my eyes!
The best ideas... are the methods.

....certainly the most powerful software in the world, although the most complex to use. . .
so much power and so much complessità They don't serve everyone. Perhaps it could serve (power and not complexity) to those who design the Mexican bridge, (they always designed it for two centuries to this side! ), but a study of normal architecture and a country geometra, such as subscribed, needs to draw rows in orthogonality (beautiful function!), to easily access and perform the many commands available to pull out the final tables to be delivered for approval and to the customer, as well as to interchange the files with other colleagues....

Thanks anyway for talking about another software in circulation. .

Yes, but also one of the most expensive software in the world!! software that, I believe, no professional study can afford

ok for the boeing and the single-seaters, but give me a link where it is possible to see that the guggenheim was designed with catia?! Thank you. I think using caia for the architectural project is a blasphemy.
Besides imho you can not compare caia with autocad; are two software conceptually different, of two completely different price bands, although born for a similar purpose. It's like comparing the utility with the helicopter. certain with the second avoids traffic and uses much less time on the trips, but not all have the heliport on the roof of the house.
the very large percentage of mechanical "pseudoingegneri" 110l graduates in fact also important in the automotive or aeronautical sector, but that to pull a straight line in autocad 2011 use the ortho option!!! !
I don't see how bad it is.

p.s. I find your intervention not out of place, more! here you are talking about anything else

I apologize, first of all, if someone felt offended for my post, it was not my intention to address criticism to respected professionals, (and I'm sure you are, since you participate in an important forum like this, with often very interesting interventions), if never my criticism was turned to another category, which looks with enough (maybe I should use another word) that of the architects .......often considered wrong of the incapable or at least

As far as the catia is concerned, I do not find that it is an outtem speech, indeed!, the future of the architectural cad will certainly be parametric and generative. Surely it has a high cost, this is true! but fortunately there are alternative solutions, much less expensive as e.g. fathopper, also the same revit, which in this forum was perhaps, unjustly criticized, is not less. I know little, but for what little I've seen it has great potential! !

in response to tristan, I attach a link related to the digital project a specific catia application for architecture:

and dear colleague young architect I know it is hard to design planes and f1, but you will see with time and a bit of perseverance at the end you will also manage to design country houses and spread computations ... and talk with municipal technicians with wide views :frown:
patience takes us so much patience and good luck with catia, greetings:biggrin:
