catia v5 excuse ignorance

Good evening,

I would need some information about the catia v5 program.
I am completely alien to the use of this program and not work in this field.
I recently bought office furniture and within these there is a large number of boxes still incelofanate of the catia v5 program. there are manuals and different types of this program.
I've been informed a bit on the internet and I vaguely understood the use of this software and noticed that it has quite high prices.
I'd like to see what I have to do with it. What value can it have? is still used? Who am I supposed to address?
I apologize if I may have written in a wrong section and my discussion is not of great interest but I would like to understand a little better.

the software doesn't serve anything without the license...
the license is the real value... the other is a cd that can be worth 2€.

lum is the license manager used by catia, i.e. the software that allows you to upload the license and that catia invokes to know if the license is present and is valid.
the license file instead is the actual file that says how many licenses you have.
Unfortunately, ds doesn't sell the software, but you "rent" it, so if you stop paying the licenses they stop working.
I think you're not doing anything about those boxes. I'm sorry.
so much to give you an idea, a cat license may vary from 12/15 k€ to 35/40k€, depends on the configuration. . list prices of course.
