change external reference path if change reference file name

hi to all, I looked for a similar discussion but I did not find solution to my problem and that is:
I have a design with many external references (images) inserted with relative path. Now I need to change the name of the files of external references and I would like, if possible, to know if there is a lisp or command that prevents me from manually modifying the paths of external references, since of course, once you change the names to the files of the images, opening the autocad file I no longer see the images. I ask the impossible:smile:?

If you change the name of the reference you have to give it back the path manually.
different the speech if it changes only the path, in such case there is the management references, external to autocad.

I imagined it was so, I thought, since there is the possibility to change in "management external references" the name of the reference, then if I subsequently gave the same name to the file it was not necessary to change the path too. But it wasn't like that, and I thought there was an escamotage.
