hi, I am a university student and I would like to understand if it is possible to modify the properties of the function of a workmanship (when done a workmanship - ex extrusion- if I click above with the right appears a curtain where there is, among the various options, function property - author, date creation last mod.-) as I need that on the drawings that I do at home instead of appearing my name I need to have the registration number!
Is there any way to change them? thank you so much in advance...because the prof at lesson controls the "created by" .... hello

Hey, crazy Cuban.
Maybe I'm saying a cow.
but I think the program automatically takes the author directly from the pc header,
then you could create another account on the pc, setting as name your serial number,
and leaving free use of the program to all accounts from your main account.
I don't know if it works, but I don't think of anything at the moment.
Hi.

if it is part of the properties directly managed by solidworks you just have to change them by hand in files\properties

try to see and change and then save. otherwise it touches you to make a profile on your pc with the name of the freshman and make the designs again

I have the same problem with solidworks 2022 , I created a series of parts and I would like to change the name in "created by " by inserting the name of the company possibly without remaking everything.
Has anyone found a solution?proprietà della funzione.webp

Wow, it's a shame.
seems to have taken the name of the pc,
Does anyone know how to change it originally so that they don't have the same problem again?

an imaginative solution. ..create a windows accout with the name you want to put, change accaunt go on solidworks and make changes save and return to your account, then I think every time you have to change name according to what you want it to appear.

takes the logged user name in windows. I happened to do a job where I didn't have to be recognizable and I made a windows account with an abstract name. then it becomes difficult to manage 2 accounts... and from here I told my client that I no longer wanted to offer this service. If I work my name appears, point.

I wonder: when you make a particular with an account, opening it with the other the name changes?

absolutely no, it doesn't seem to change even by creating a new account or changing the name to the one in use, even the reinstallation of the program with the modified name already guarantees the success, in practice the only one is to buy a new workstation ....at least I understood so.

the answer of the assistance:

"Good morning,
the function of windows 'getusername()' is read-only, so we are unable to change it, it is from here that it takes the name in phase of creation of the installation environment of the software.
I'm not even sure that with the uninstallation and the following reinstall the problem goes to fix, as the folders and registry keys are created directly in the system. "

the name cannot change, at most you can create functions with a different name by creating a new windows account and modeling the files with this new log account. when creating a solidworks function reads the username and writes it, then it will no longer be editable.

different creating a new windows account and shaping files with this new log-in account
I have already changed accounts but continues to take the name of the old account,
the assistance that didn't seem too "wake" writes to me as you read that the name of the new account is inserted even reinstalling the program .
What do you mean by log? Can you describe the procedure?

when I had this need I created a new account in active directory (server windows), I logged in to the pc with this user account (new, created from scratch), I made the main settings that I needed on the new account and then I started working. the features created with the new account bear the name of the new user.
