Hello, everyone!
are a new user, study ing. mechanics and are at first arms with
the programs cad. in particular use solidworks 2010.

I hope not to wrong section to put this question: I would like to know how it is possible to measure an area of passage, depending on the shift of the element that determines that area, using a cad program (better if solidworks). I better explain: for example, in an oleodynamic distributor when switching the drawer, a passing light appears. I would like to know the trend of such light when changing the drawer (graphic x= shift, y=area) using the three-dimensional model cad, without having to resort to an analytical evaluation with matlab programs.

Does anyone have any ideas?? ? ?

thanks and greetings!

Unless I have particularly complex geometries, I wouldn't bother even matlab, excel is more than enough to generate such a curve.
If it is for personal culture, in principle, I would create an area on the median level of the passage connected to the edges of the passage and I would measure the area. consider that you will hardly generate an automatic curve, but you will have to touch to go for points

Hi.
Thank you for the answer! I had already solved the problem by doing something similar
But I was interested in understanding whether there was a possibility through the cad, so that I could exploit it on other occasions.
