hello to everyone!, I happened this strange thing....I finished a model in abs (used by a size) with stroke brushstrokes, then smooth it with 600 grouse sandpaper... but after a few hours it has won coloring in some areas ....what is the surprise? ? ! ?

What was the original color?
Was loctite dry when you filed?

What kind of loctite did you use?

and lastly:biggrin: why did you do it??

hi paolo!....I used loctite super attack....I did it to create a homogeneous surface layer, then slightly sanding the abs powder covers the remaining stripes improving the finish....ah, I did it then metallize it (or paint it, same thing)...you how do you do it? ?

...... you gave me a tip....I don't think the loctite was completely dry...I did it other times and it never happened...it actually has the same color as the base canvas of the sandpaper....

especially if the layer of loctite is "important" it takes a lot more time to be able to card

I spray bottom filler from body shop and then card
I never tried with loctite

I must try, too. Where do I find it? Can you give me, like, brand?

go to a paint shop and what you need as a sticky bottom for abs
every company has its own brands, the important thing you use professional stuff and not from bricolage shop

I'm going in to confirm what Paolo said. we use single-component stucco in cans, now not under hand it seems to me to mark both fly color. the results are excellent and you can polish with 1000 paper.

I add that if the abrasive paper is of poor quality small fragments stick in the texture of the polymer and do not detach anymore, it always happens, an initial treatment with a spray stucco, in the finishing processes the material that goes to cover the surface is increasingly hard plastic...:finger:

I'm going to be quick for 2 information.
First.
abrasive paper friction generates heat that could deform the abs.
better use a paper that can be used under running water so that the surface temperature of the piece is low.
second.

Hi.
and above all, they are so many altruists in exchanging information on how to work:biggrin:
here is how I would like the spirit of the forum:finger:

Really, I was thinking about going to the sea, who wants to make a prototype with sand?

ahi.... blamed in pride dear lucio....but I learn quickly you know?!, with your help then it is even better!

.... among other things, I managed, tests on tests and € on (all at my expense....) to make an experience also in metallization, even with the help of a supplier of my area that performs this type of finishing, I had seen the treatment rooms at the mestre vega park (technological park specialized in nanotechnology) but practical applications are another thing.. .
the prox week I have already appointment from a client who is interested.... cross your fingers!!

Here is the result....it is a handpiece iron for household appliances, on the left the printed piece abs, then it was treated and metallized. ..the knob is molded, in phenolic resin then nickeled in traditional galvanic bath.
the mold of the wreath are doing it but must present the sample of the electrodomestic at a convention in London.
the evidence cost me 350€, in addition to the predicted prototyping to the customer.
