Hi! I'm new to the forum, I don't know if I'm writing in the right place but if I don't mind but I'm still not practical. cmq my problem is that I can't create the so-called 3d folding with autocad (I attach an image so you understand better than I'm talking about). I tried with loft, I tried with trance but apart from being very (too much) laborious procedures, I did not however get excellent results. Does anyone recommend something more practical to achieve this sided bending effect? Thank you in advance

It is not a simple process but I try
These effects is easier to obtain them with 3d max than with autocad however everything is based on the stretching and melting of the vertices of a solid.
Starting for example from a parallelepiped you can, with the combination of ctrl + left key, select a edge, a vertex or a face of a solid and you can move them to deform the solid. by pressing maiusc you can select more than one and then change them in block.
if our parallelepipedo divide it into several parts by performing prints on its faces, we get a solid that you can work on layers, or sections.
then move edge to edge until you get the desired shape.

It's exactly what I've been trying to do since yesterday....it's not as easy as procedure but I try...it's the only solution with autocad.. . Others are not there, I have tried them all! thanks cmq

What do you mean? were you hoping for something more immediate?
is also feasible with polylinee 3d + loft but it is still a laborious process

or, alternatively, you can shape the solid skeleton and recalculate it with faces3d that are less binding

You say you place the 3d polylines well and do the loft?...maybe it could work...the 3d face speech I never used it instead... .

much depends also on what you have to do, i.e. you are inventing it or you already have dimensions and points that must be connected? In the second case of course it is much easier to help, if this is all to invent.. bhè... armed with patience and hope!

Let's say I'm inventing it, but in case I have precise points, I could work for coordinates?

You can do it, but I don't recommend it.
If you do not need precise coordinates, you can rely on the construction of lines, 3d polylines, etc., as if it were a scaffolding

3d faces are designed by inserting 4 or 3 points and have the advantage of adapting to any complex architectural solution. have the fact that they are and remain separate objects, which you could still group in a group (_group)

So... I managed to make the 3d polylinee loft:biggrin: now there is only one problem...if I wanted to make some renders with the artlantis program happens that these polylines treated with the loft does not recognize them as solid and therefore do not even appear on the screen (because they are actually surfaces) there is a way to remedy this? ?

the object is self-intersection. impossible to thicken the surface with the value
specified.

Tell me about it.

you have created surfaces with vertices not on the same floor... try to decrease thickness, even for an infinitesimal value solids are still created.

another solution could be to create the loft with normal turns out.
I explain better: each surface has 2 faces, a front and a back.
the front one is called normal and is generally displayed in the conceptual style in the same color of the object, while the rear one becomes bluish.
try to display your loft with conceptual style and tell me how you view it
