every year the company that makes us support cad provides us with the new version of cocreate modeling with their update of pdm, macro etc. etc.
Only one day comes a guy to install us cocreate new, another day comes a guy for the pdm, see if everything is okay and they make alignment.
in a few words for a couple of days we have two models:
an old line that relates to the pdm and a new one without pdm.
Usually everything went well because it is enough to have the kindness to save in the old version and there are no problems, but I wondered the compatibility between creo and cocreate backwards is satisfactory as between cocreate v17 and v16?

I use cocreate since version 11.65 and I must say that I have never had compatibility issues between the various versions, especially with version 17 that has improved many functions.

thanks to the answer, I also use cocreated since 2005 and I have not had problems of compatibility, but now that I think two products have emerged: I create direct modeling 1.0 and cocreate modeling v18; I wanted to know if with creo there is excellent compatibility with cocreate v17, comparable to that that certainly there will be between cocreate v18 and v17, and not pastries as it happens when passing from one cad to another.

I have not yet seen the live demonstration of the program, but from what you see from the videos on youtube, it seems that the new version 18 of the modeling is called creo direct modeling 1.0 (according to me it is the same software) from the functions I have seen seems to me that the graphic setting of the icons (type office 2010, solidworks, etc...), besides having definitely improved many functions.
When I see the demonstration, I'll let you know.

look that I create elements direct modeling is only modeling 18, the other program creo direct 1.0 is another software very similar to pro-e with dynamic functions.
practically you have modeling 18 with a different name

then create elements pro takes the place of pro-e
and believe elements direct the place of cocreate modeling?

creo elements direct modeling is modeling 18, the usual program with new interface and some function in + as iron spigolo sheet metal improved moves very advanced important news on annotation, beautiful.

creo 1.0 is another program where you have pro environment with pro-e commands and direct environment with dynamic commands.

I hope it is clear

Excuse me if I ask a question that some of you might be trivial. I am a mechanical designer and I take care of earth moving machines. normally use inventor and in some cases pro_e 5.0. for work I will have to learn creo elements/direct modeling revision 17. my question is whether this program is the same as cocreate modeling 17.

thanks in advance

exactly the same thing.
in version 18 have changed the graphical interface more similar to solidworks

cocreate was initially produced by the German company named after cocreate modeling. recently it was bought by “parametric technology” that markets it with the new name of “creo elements /direct”. ptc has therefore inserted it in the family of its products called "creo" of which it is also part creo parametric descendant of pro/engineer.

the two products are however profoundly different because while the first is a direct explicit modeling program, the second is a parametric program and have completely different features and features that require the user to a totally different approach. are similar to the characteristics of the latest versions of cocreate and the new editions of creo elements/direct modeling with some updates and improvements in the interface and content, as rightly stated also by studio_gagliardi.

Thank you very much

can you also recommend some tutorials to learn at least the first steps with cocreate?

with “last versions of cocreate” I meant the latest versions produced and marketed. cocreate is no longer marketed as replaced by creo elements/direct modeling.

try to see something on youtube, but I have never found a real tutorial, you have to try more than anything, you also pass to the dark side of the explicit

I'm back.

You can tell me if there's anything like pro_e skeletons in cocreate. My problem can be reduced to moving two rods around a zipper. You know how to advise me?

Thank you very much
