complete problem

I was delivered a file in stl, but it is incomplete in some parts, we say surfaces like gnawed by a mouse, because they told me it comes from a 3d scan.
How can I close and complete those missing parts? ?
I press that I don't know much, since I always used rhino as a modeler, but with it I can't work because I don't have edges, faces etc...
