connection between 2 files

I often happen to save the same design in two different files in different folders.

question: is it possible in autocad lt to create a link between the two files so that when mapping one changes the other too?

only in one and you have to mirror in the other. .

exact, xrefs are the solution.
the original uses it for changes
in the copy insert the original xref

the use of xrif depends however on what cast actually wants to make of two files in two different folders, as it hasn't explained yet.
if it is for a backup function (as I seem to understand), so having two identical files, the xrif system is not okay. if the basic file object of the reference should be "shared" of what is inserted?

the reason:
a non standad product we save it in the customer's folder and in many cases when we find it useful also in a "special" subfolder of the product.
when during the production process, it serves to change it I wanted to change it once.
I made a quick test with xrif and in the target file the design remains of another color and not selectable.
Am I wrong?

change the location of the bak file with movebak of expresstools; then just save 2 consecutively the same drawing to have the 2 identical drawings (dwg and bak) in 2 different folders; Every now and then you will convert all the bak into dwg.
