convert the axioms step into particular inventor

Good evening to all,
I'm trying to start using inventor 2016, the biggest problem I have now, is how to convert the files that come to me in step format in inventor details...and also give them all their mechanical properties, rename them, usually get me assemblies and wanting them to date with name keeps them in a single file...how to do?

first, when you open the step open the options and check that the option that allows you to open it in a single file rather than in separate files (always admitted that the step file was created with more compoents). .

when you open the command to select the step to open, you have the window I put you in the image; click on options (bottom right) and open the one in the first floor in the same image, where you have to uncheck the check on the item import together as a single part.
