copy faces

Good morning to all,
I have a sheet metal processing problem, that is: work in a sheet processing company and our customers send us details in 3d made with the most diverse programs. I often try to turn the particular into 3d in stp, step,igs,ecc,ecc formats and it does not enable me the guiding face because it gives me the message "non uniform thickness" probabilmete given by an extrusion or an incorrect angle made by extrusion into inventor rather than solidedge.
I ask: is it possible to copy all the faces of the particular creating a "copy" that can be managed directly in creo, perhaps giving the thickness and so to be able to work as a sheet?? ? ? ?

Of course you can do it, load the object and redefine the import, make it appear as a combination of surfaces (and not as solid), select the surfaces on the side that interests you, make a copy (brutal just with ctrl+c and ctrl+v) , make sure that there is continuity of tangency and with the command "often from the thickness you want.
at this point convert the solid into sheet metal.
problems can be there at this point, where the program may have difficulty recreating the various folds and then allow you to do the slowly state.
