hello to all I wanted to know if someone can solve me a little problem that I keep in creating a ring...:eek:I would like to pierce the top of the object, now I explain the steps I make, I used the swipe command along the surface, previously I realized a pattern with hexagonal forms I put it on top of the surface I made a boleana on curves to tell them the parts I wanted to keep full. I took the decoration and put it on top of the ring with the smash command. Did you understand me? I'll show you the ring. I mean, does the ring come with a few small hexagons at some point deform? Do you know another way to do that?? Thanks anyway. . .

I didn't understand much, maybe an image would be clarifying

You mean something like this?

create the ring on the floor and then the templates with the command _flowalongsrf

How would you do that ring of the photo?
Anyway I sent you what I did so maybe you can understand better.... thanks
Hello, hello, and I'm sorry I'm late to answer you:

I took a look at your model and I have to say that you perfectly understood the technique to apply.
As for the deformations to which you mention, and that you consider "a problem", I must unfortunately tell you that they are not avoidable.

from the mathematical point of view there is no solution, except to apply proportional deformations.
to make you understand the nature of the problem I make you a simple example:

Take a tennis ball, print a label with your hexagons lattice, then try to apply it on the ball, you will realize that as far as you do you can not avoid "grinze".
This is explained in an "empirical" way why it did not exemplify a "perfect" mathematical solution to the drawing of a flat figure on a double curvature surface.

if the deformations are too obvious, you resort to retouching, modeling so as to mask as much as possible deformation.
Remember cmq that you are modeling a ring and certain defects that, video and zoom to the maximum, look huge then... once you have the model in scale 1:1, only a person with eagle views can notice them.

Hello, Mariuss. .
I generally do not use the command you specified, but I think it really needs today.

I have to model a snake that I already have polysurfaces on a band.

With the command you mention, don't do it to me... give me some more info on how to specify the objects in the command?

Thank you so much... and as soon as you unlock my computer I try to post the ring.

Alex.

1) select the object to be wrapped
2) selections a reference plane surface
3) Select a curved surface on which to wrap

4) being running you place an image and a file with a serpent made to fly so that you can try.
if you can't get acceptable results, post a file
