aidi, an Italian association of lighting, has banned a contest of ideas to realize the project of a system of functional lighting for different urban areas with sources that represent a technological innovation, with particular attention to environmental sustainability, energy saving and aspects related to the control of the luminous flux (directionality and orientation). The competition is aimed at university students and/or graduates in the academic year 2008/2009, who attend or have attended courses at the universities of the national territory that provide a teaching in the field of lighting.
registration is free of charge. participation is individual or group of up to 3 components, for which a group leader must be indicated. to participate it is necessary to present the following documentation:
- technical and explanatory drawings in an appropriate scale mounted on a rigid support (type polyplatt thickness 5mm) in a2 format for a minimum number of 3 tables for each project;
- technical explanatory report of the project (formed to 4 minimum n°3 folders, max n°5 folders);
- application for participation duly completed in all its parts, inserted in sealed opaque envelope.
all the documentation must be inserted in a sealed plic, which contains the word "Aid ideas contest". the sealed plic must arrive by 12:00 on March 15, 2010 at:

The following prizes will be awarded:
- 1st overall ranking: € 3.000 + trip to/r and 1 overnight stay at the place where the award will be made on the occasion of an event in the lighting industry;
- 1st special mention for the best project dedicated to production: €1,500 + trip to/r and 1 overnight stay at the place where the award will be made on the occasion of an event in the lighting industry;
- 2nd special mention for the best project using environmentally friendly materials: Euro 1,000 + trip to/r and 1 overnight stay at the place where the award will be made at an event in the lighting industry.
For the evaluation of the projects submitted, the Committee of Judges will make a maximum of 40 points as follows:
- technological innovation and environmental compatibility: 16 points;
- functionality and production: 11 points;
- originality of design: 8 points;
- quality of presentation of graphic design: 5 points.
