cut images and scale them

I would like to know if once you insert an image in a drawing view (e.g. a map extract or a cartography) you can cut it somehow to get an extract and if it is possible to scale it for example in a scale 1:20000 or 1:10000.

Cut it physically not, but you can use clipping. what version of autocad use?
the scale you should manage it from the layout

as tristan says, dx button on the image, from the menu go to the item "image" and then choose between the available options. I don't know how to give you the exact path because I have a handful lt and the image doesn't handle them.
