the question is as follows:
given an open elliptical sheet (see attached image), how do you make subtraction of material with the shape of the visible sketch?

the subtraction should be of the type "through bend", (unfortunately not vabene). the version is inventor 2010

I don't help you.
I thought I was using in "scratch 3d", the projection of trajectory on surface, but the program stops me saying that the projection is allowed on cylindrical, conical, or flat surfaces.
Unless someone has any esoteric ideas, I think inventor doesn't......

p.s.
by subtraction you meant the "cut" command, didn't you?

thanks for the answer, unfortunately I am encapsulated in your same answer of the system, on conical or cylindrical surfaces perform the processing, on surfaces as from example no.
by subtraction I mean subtraction of material, then cutting command or negative extrusion or other similar.

but the command "explains" (I think it's called so, I don't have inv in hand) of 2010 doesn't work? had to serve just this (at least as I remember the videos of presentation of 2010). .
