Therefore, it has been for a year to this part that I work with solidworks 2010 sp4 and with different courses and a little practice I started to move smoothly, so let's say that with the software I find myself well in principle, but changing work I have to change also software (both clear that I am not a designer at 8 hours gg to the cad, mostly I am in the plant, I try to understand and to make changes where necessary, I mean, you want for another just a new filter, I am not, I am not, I am not, I am not.
what I want to ask you is if someone has already jumped like me, or if someone knows both software, and if this someone spends two words to tell me how delta is, the difference, if I have to start from scratch or if in principle the methods and interface look like.
If I have wrong forum, maybe it was from off topic or anything, you can quietly move.
Thank you.
Two.

Bye-bye. I've been there.
This topic has already been addressed several times in the forum ... however:
pro/e is a high-end program, solidworks is a midrange.
this means several things and among them the fact that it is expandable towards specialized sectors much more than solidworks.
the concept of parametric modeling is always the same.
starting from a sketch (sketch or section in pro/e) and from that you get the 3d entities through extrusion, revolution, sweep ... etc. etc. etc.
even the concept of placing on the table is equal, the table is a direct derivation of model 3d.

For the rest, being pro/e born in unix environment, there are a lot of advantages in terms of lightness of resource management.
pro/e does not touch the windows registry, uses proprietary graphics libraries.
At the same time, it has a greater ability to manage complex assemblies and a greater speed of regeneration of the table.

It is always advisable, in the passage from one program to another, to attend a course.
This speeds up the learning process a lot.
I learned it myself practically alone (with ad aids of acquaintances and friends) ... but if I had attended a course I would have done it much earlier.

As I imagined, you confirmed what I thought.
I thank you for everything, even for reminding me that maybe I could do a research before opening this post.

I am accusing myself to the topic since I was also chosen to move from sw to pro/e, and I would need to open/modify sw files with this program.

Trying to ask me a "key", and then refuses my opening, would any of you know how to help me?

I thank you in advance, and if I missed some more accurate topic I ask vein, and I hope you can post me the link!

si pro-e can open solidworks files, but to do this you have to ask solidworks the file swdocumentmgr.dll and set it in the config of pro-e (instruments > options) with the option swdocmgr_license_key.
to ask for such file to soloworks you must be their customers otherwise they answer you "sweet" or as if it says in roma "'t'attacchi ar ca...".
I have never tested the thing or import quality though it allows you to open solidworks files directly.
Bye.

Thank you!
I requested the key yesterday at this address:
'apisupport@solidworks.com'
and yesterday I got there, I followed your directions prof. and I managed.

Now however I would like to import not only the model but the complete tree, and to do so it seems that you touch to buy an application from the ptc,
wildfire 5.0 if I don't get out.

Hello, cat,

I changed work and after 10 years of solidworks I found myself using proes, after a year of intense use I am convinced that the wf4 version is very backward compared to sw 2010, the last I used. there are commands and functions that sw performs at once, while in proe you have to do at least two and in addition it is not even intuitive. look I could go on for dozens and dozens of lines to express my preference, but it would seem only a rash of frustration!! !
concludo con sw for ever .... We wait for you!

Hi.
Your statements are very general.
brings examples of the type of command that sw does in one shot only, you probably like many others after years of using a sw look for a command that is not called in the same way in proe, these are always inexpensive comparisons and certainly not help you.
actually looks more like a frustration vent, we analyze together those dozens of rows we mention and then we talk about it.

greetings

greetings

as Ozzy says, brings examples. just so we could actually figure out if you're right.
Bye.
