I'm in a difficult situation.

I'm designing a pump and so I have to size the components. I am new in this company and so I know little about the industry, I work as an employee.

as a base of departure I followed the indications of the holder, but at the moment to check the hold of the components I find one of them that has values from breaking. I therefore communicate the thing to the holder indicating the need to change the size to avoid breaks.

and here arises the problem, the holder does not want to change the piece because in the past they have never occurred breaks.
for two days that I point out that the pieces made in the past did not present similar but much lower values, I presented 2 other hypothesis of sizing supported by relative calculations but there is no way to make him change his mind.

I don't know how to move now. refuse to do the job does not seem correct, I could do as the owner says but then at the time when the problems arise how the thing develops?

first of all who is responsible? Can I find any objections about this?
or am I just entering the name of the owner in the "visto" of the cartiglio and am I okay?
or should I sign something that declares the responsibilities of those who wanted to follow that road in design?

by someone who only tells you in voice that you have to do as he says I expect that, if problems arise, the thing will develop like this: it will be your fault...

Is there no way to get him to put a signature on your relationship with the calculations and attach it to the drawings? .

send him the relationship with an internal email, even if at the good time he will deny everything even if you will show it in your mail sent.
I regret not being able to help you any further, because I unfortunately (but perhaps fortunately...) emails I send them to myself so the possible discussion between the porgetist, the owner and the worker can do all in mind. stuff to do invida to fregoli:smile:

What if I put your well hidden liquors in the sunlight of the relationship?
Something like this: the calculations bla bla bla bla bla bla lead us to the solution x, that for business choices is not applied since the solution y has been adopted for years and seems has given excellent empirical feedback.
because (I'm almost sure) no one will read the relationship, everything will be fine, you will not go into friction and the pump will be fine.
until you have broken. when (and if) these will be there, they will certainly go to read the report.. and will find out how you had already predicted tot years before
