Hi.
I'm trying to draw a spring trying to have a real geometry.
the spring has the last and the first spire making a full ride to another step.zone where it is molated to get the plans.
So I guess I have to use the variable step helical sweep...but I can't find the "right" of the chart.
Can anyone please explain this to me?
or can you attach a file of a spring from which I can understand the procedure?

Sorry but I can't open it because I have wf3.
when you draw,with the constant section, I imagine that cuts on 2 floors that determine the free length.I usually do so nail,
but the spring I have to draw has the first spire with a lower step (just more than the d. of the spring wire).The latter is the one that is moved to get the plan.
I would like to represent a geometry like this. but I don't understand how to change the variable step chart.
Any advice?

I understand what you mean.. at the ends there is a sort of "spira in more" almost perpendicular to the axis, or however with the drastically reduced step, tending to zero; this to also give stability once it is placed
 
downloaded alibre xpress (gratis), has a special option to check when you generate a helid.

you could create two "mozzicons" of the same and then join them but at that point the problem would be to ensure tangency/continuity

Try it anyway. . created the central body at constant pace and the two (races) ends at step decidedly:biggrin: decreasing

I also automated everything because I use a family table.

cmq I made 3 pieces of helical sweep.
the central with step that is equal to (free length-2d_filo) / number of useful edges
extreme parts with pitch equal to d_filo
then to make grinding I made a cutting extrusion above and below.

If you want I can post the model, but I use the wf4.

depends on the type of spring.. sometimes it is slightly serrated because there is a sharp step change.
