for the concept of loft I also used caia, but on a more familiar soil to me, the surfaces.
in this case I had no problem giving sections lying on non-parallel planes or non-planar profiles (such as the lower section)
the transition from circular to rectangular (or similar, as in this case) is to be accurately governed by adding many guide curves, otherwise the solution proposed by the software (I used yellow lines, but I should have added more).
loutenr1, try also with the superici (you should have more flexibility) and then close solid and add (boolean or not) to the rest of the construction.
