direction of quota lines

I have this big doubt. then, I am on a presentation document and I would like to put a certain quota between a point and a line, as from sketch.
selecting the segment and point (b) and the quota will correspond to ab, which is the minimum distance.
how do I quote the distance the long vertical axis (bc) or along another direction to my choice?

you need to draw the segment first, with a sketch on the view. you can put a quota between b and any point of the straight, but if you don't draw this point, how does inventor know what it is?

I honestly find the question strange, too. inventor is a 3d modeler. Why do you need these quotas, say more by autocad?
