Hello everyone,
I'm analyzing a tubular structure. being very thin thick and not being practical with surface modeling I preferred to model it full with ptc and then save in step only the shells. in this way I got a structure made only of surfaces. in fact reopening the step with ptc is everything exactly as I wanted: the structure I saved has emptied. when the amount in abaqus check a shell section with appropriate material and thickness, however in the mesh module do not appear the element type tri and quad typical of the 2d analysis but the hex and tet elements that are typical of the analysis on solid structures. Obviously assigning one of these types of item, the analysis returns an error saying that all elements do not have the correct properties.
How come I don't have the option to select shell elements??
I hope you can help me, thank you
