families of revit

hi! I am really in trouble with the use of revit 2009: I have to model a farmhouse for an examination at university but obviously I do not find the suitable objects (the farmhouse is almost a ruin). I can neither charge the families I find on the internet nor create them myself: I tried to read but it is really too complicated. who can help me by pointing out to me sites to download families and how to use them? Thank you.
