the only source where you can find the size, tolerances and methods of performing tests on materials is the regulations (astm, din, iso the most used). from my experience no textbook contains all the information necessary to perform the tests, so the only way is to buy the regulations or access the university database, which typically has contracts with regulatory bodies.
