Hello everyone,
I would like to ask you the following questions, being me at first with femap.
Suppose I have to perform static analysis of a stiffened panel through sects.
I begin with building geometry in solidworks and then I generate a 2d surface with the size of my panel, and then on this genero a number of perpendicular surfaces that will be my stiffenings. except the whole and then the amount in femap. At this point I create the mesh of the surfaces by assigning as properties the fact that they are panels (plate) and assign material and thickness. the first thing that does not convince me is the fact that if active display thickens the septics obviously penetrate into the thickness of the panel (obviously considering that in drawing 2d the surface of the panel and the edges of the stiffening are in contact ). My doubt is founded because then when I check loads and constraints and start the analysis I immediately give myself a fatal error and a series of messages.
I would like to know:
What's wrong with the procedure I follow? (I imagine that I could say to him to give the thickness all on either side of the surface, instead of a little up and a little down, to avoid that they connect. but this does not solve the last problem I will put you in this debate. ...
- should I impose that there is a contact between the surface and the edges? in which case as ? (where can I find a tutorial about it? )
- should I draw reinforcements instead of contact with the plate, separated from this of a distance equal to the thickness that I will then draw?
- how do I make him understand that if I give the thickness to the inside (so towards the sets of stiffening) he must start the sects from the inner surface of the thickness and not from the outer one? Is it possible?
- Can someone tell me a tutorial or a procedure maybe in pdf that I can read to understand?
I would need to understand how the program works in order to do something that maybe is a little more complicated. In fact, what would happen if the plate was in composite and the stiffness applied above were in composite (and perhaps in the form of omega? ...... ok this we pass to the next discussion !!! .... we go quietly!!!) and I wanted to do different tests in order to find the best compromise of thicknesses and lightness by making various tests with different laminates? In such a case I do not know a priori what the thicknesses will be, but I will leave from an initial thickness and then perhaps in subsequent analyses the various. I don't have to make a different model every time?
I thank you for your patience and I hope you have not put a question too trivial.
