Good morning to all
I have many created drw files (I think from pro-e ) in 1998, I would like to open them and save them in pdf the problem is that I tried with a version of pro-e
but they don't open.
from the file you can understand with which version was created? because surely the version from which I tried to open them is more recent than the file, but I do not understand why it does not open.
Who can help me?
Thank you.

What version are you trying to open them? Do you open them in full or just "view only"? proe is always able to open the drw saved with previous versions.

Good morning

try to open the drw with any text block. to me from qs info to string 12 [allego immagine]The fact that you can't open them with a newer version seems very strange... What message does that give you? Is it not that there is a student license by chance and you lose compatibility with files? relative 3d files (prt and asm) damage problems in their opening?
is it not that by chance 3ds were renamed on disk without its drw file being in session (and then re-saved)?

student edition?

If I don't remember you do what calacc told you, instead of a readable text you will find a sequela (apparently) meaningless ascii characters (crypted)

or other cad...

I found this:
http://filext.com/file-extension/drw

detailed information for file extension drw:
primary association: drawing
other applications associated with file type drw:

cads planner (drawing) by kymdata oycads planner is a product family for different needs of drawing and engineering. this association is classified as cad/cam. the identifying characters used for this association are - hex: 0d 43 41 44 53 20 44 52 57 20 , ascii: .cads.drw
freelance graphics (version 2 for dos drawing/presentation) by ibmthis was a lotus product. lotus was bought out by ibm.
macdraw (drawing) this association is classified as graphic. the identifying characters used for this association are -

hex: 64 44 6f 63 44 32 , ascii: ddocd2

micrografx vector graphic
personal designer (4design) (cad drawing database) by 4d graphics, inc.the drw file created by personal designer (now known as 4design) is a cad/cam database that stores 3d vector information for use with said program. it is a binary file. personal designer was developed by 4d graphics for computervision corp from 1983-1999. computervision was bought by ptc in 1997. ptc discontinued personal designer in 2000, but there remain many users and databases. personal designer was also marketed as "microcadds" and microdraft in europe. in the mid/late 1980s, personal designer was the most powerful 3d cad sysetms available for the pc. personal designer was no doubt the first commercial user of the .drw extension for dos platforms, beginning in 1983. 4d graphics still exists and offers a personal designer cad look-alike called 4design. the cad file has a .drw file extension. there is also a .drw file viewer offered by draftware inc. this association is classified as cad/cam. related links: draftware inc.

pro/engineer (drawing) by ptcpro/engineer is a 3d product design product, featuring productivity tools that promote best practices in design while ensuring compliance with your industry and company standards. the identifying characters used for this association are -

hex: 23 55 47 43 3a 32 20 44 52 41 57 49 4e 47 20 , ascii: #ugc:2 drawing

Maybe I confused you the ideas, the juice of the speech is that the possible cads that generated the drawings are:

1) proe student edition

2) micrografx vector graphic

marketed in Europe also with the following names:

microcadds
microdraft

if they were of any non-study edition proe at least you would open them without problems.

this is the drw header generated by wildfire i

#ugc:2 drawing 1271 560 0 1 15 2400 2003170 0000062

Thanks painaz
Unfortunately I do not know pro-e (I am expert in catia v5) and I do not want them to open because there are no relative solids.
with catia you can open even without the solid just do not update the drawing and save them pdf.
can be opened without its solid?

I'm not sure, you can do a test and open it in just display to see if it makes you open the same without solids...
click ctrl+o, select the drw file, click next to the open button where there is a downward arrow (you should open a curtain), then click on display only.
try so then let us know

I tried as you said but when I open the curtain there is not only visualization however I opened it and there are these writings

€ 6.10 pd2d
‹ (! ÿ_ô< €? What?
Do you understand anything?
Hi.

But what, absolute darkness... I guess you tried to open it with a text editor. if you open it from pro/e what message does it give you? can you possibly try to post these files?

according to these links may also be a solidworks file
http://www.pcpitstop.com/libraries/fileextension/detail.asp?ext=drw.htmlhttp://extension.nirsoft.net/drwhttp://filext.com/file-extension/drwhttp://www.solvusoft.com/it/file-extensions/file-extension-drw/other solution is to open to the usual with notepad and try to look for these strings:

reserved
rights
copyright

or send a file (the smallest, so you are reasonably sure that it does not contain the study of a whole machine) and feed it to forumers.... Some little bugs sure understands who generated the file

I tried to open the file with 2 different types (I did not pro-and helped me a colleague )

- impossible to recover 'prog-old'. ( error message)

- tried to open with pro/e type “wildfire” vers. 3.0 and with pro/e type “creo” vers. 2
Hi.

Hello painaz
I would like to put a drw file in the forum but I don't know how to do because .drw attachments don't upload it.
Can you tell me how to do this?
Thank you.

unfortunately nothing [impossibile recuperare appogg.drw], I think that without its part file, you can't even see

is certainly not proe, the first line (#ugc:2 drawing .....) is not its and also the size (8 kb) are too small; never seen a drw below 50 kb.
you see a clear text "press 160 t leans on the ground", other you do not understand

Thanks for the answer, but I thought the .drw files were pro-e, I should open many of these files created in 1998 and I don't know what program they were created with.
Greetings
