file name too long

Hi.

Is there a way to read files with very long names?

I'm sorry to answer the question. when they send me file step I save them in catpart and then put this math.catpart in our corporate dropbox (an archive). if the name is too long does not open it but if I put on the desktop that file and then try to open it opens it without problems.. How come?
Is it a cat or our server problem?

I think it's a db problem where you save, maybe the name field has a declared length less than the length of the name you want to use........... .

I was looking at your problem, could it also be a caty/db interface problem, do you upload files directly to the cat?? have you configured the db x the interface?? ?

because under tools/options/product structure/synchronization, for example there is a voice “number of characters considered ........” maybe that’s what takes you, example 20 characters and the full name of the file is longer.....

If someone has configured you a db as a cat's pdm, it could solve your problem.

I don't have db in the company and maybe it doesn't hit anything............... but with the few data available you can only make guesswork.

I tried to change that parameter from 20 I put 500 but it doesn't work

I think it's better that you feel who set up the db with catia, you'll surely tell you what to do, I don't think you're the first.
