Hello everyone my name is lorenzo and I am doing a job of reviewing a flag crane with draw for an exam.
my doubt is in the simplest link to build between column-ipe and column-tirant since in the project the column has a tubular profile.
in reality this has been made with an ipe-column welding with a sort of milling on the ipe so as to embrace the round profile of the column, while in the thief-column two handkerchiefs have been welded between the two elements.
Now, since I had to schematize the structure and solve it histically, I assumed the hinges in these two points.
I wanted to know if someone knows how best to connect the elements then using a bolted connection taking into account that weld two handkerchiefs on a round profile I don't know how feasible it is.

hello while thanks to the first image is the scheme and in red I marked the points in questionthen the pattern of how I thought to solve it but I don't know if welds are feasible in red between handkerchief and round because it won't be a perfect joint to t....what useful area I go to consider?this is between ipe and pipe

at the max you will make 3 welds on the handkerchiefs, one of the two interiors will be little probable for space.
I recommend giving an eye to the solutions of other flag cranes to understand how others solve.
For example, you could shape the ipe.

you can do everything, but usually you prefer to connect the flag to the column via tie with flange joints, in order not to realize welding in the yard.

welds of rectangular plates on a round are the things that are better than all other welds because you create enough space to make the welding penetrate.

However in your case it is true, it would be better the mobile tie that you rule it when you need it otherwise you will get a plate on the column and a plate on the flag and put the tie on it with a screw by side.
follow the eurocode 3 that both for welds and for bolts that for pins there are checks and sizes.
