Good morning to all, I do not know if this topic has already been discussed. I searched but I can't find links to the problem I have.
I need to create a new font containing custom characters associated with keyboard letters to be used as attributes in a library of blocks of my creation. I would like you to edit an attribute, already set with this font, by typing a letter a symbol is displayed, such as an arrow with a line below.
Thank you very much

Maybe it's not autocad you need to generate fonts? Would a font editor be more indicated? Why did you post in a cad forum for this question? with autocad do not generate fonts, at least that I know!!! then you can do a thousand other things.... how to draw the symbols you need, export them to bmp and then convert them into the fonts editor program; assign the keyboard letter, save them in the ttf format, or other, and then, once you define the new font: insert it into the system fonts.... at this point you can use them as text, quotation etc...

...I would like that by editing an attribute, already set with this font, typing a letter is displayed a symbol, such as an arrow with a line below.
But it seems to me that it does not ask how to create a font with autocad. even if the question is not quite clear.

you are right I have not been very clear; I've explained it wrong.
I don't want to create fonts with autocad, but I need to create special symbols that autocad recognize and that can be used to edit block attributes. I would like to create a font, for example, that in the letter "f" corresponds the symbol of an arrow with a line at the end like that which I crafted under.

in this way by editing the attributes can display the dart only by typing the letter "f".
different fonts, for example the symbol, contain symbols similar to those I need but are not exhaustive. I also happened to edit the attributes of blocks by inserting these characters and the result is a poor square.
Unfortunately I cannot choose the way to insert these symbols apart, I need them to be an integral part of the block.
thank you very much, however, for the answers

If you show us the example of the square would be much more explanatory than the difficulties you encounter. try to post an example file, which we look at it calmly and clearly.
also because you could save everything as a block: attribute and symbol I mean.

It does not seem so easy as a solution, it would be a question of making letters like other characters (which are symbols or letters does not matter). and this only in the typing of attributes.

It's exactly so, for some simple symbols, like arrows I can handle using those already in the fonts, but for others that are not expected I don't know how to do. That's why I thought of building a special font that contained non-letter symbols or numbers.
as I said in the previous message, for certain characters happens that by pasting the symbol, from the map of the windows characters, in the attribute this does not recognize it and instead of the symbol displays a generic square.

Good day to all

useful, also would know the number of symbols you would need to generate as fonts. without this given the speech to create your own fonts remains dead letter.
Now that you've explained to me the question of "quadratini" is clearer.
but do squares appear to you even if you check the font of origin of symbols, as text style in acad?

the square often copy me, even if I imposed the text style containing the symbol. but also I can solve this problem, I find myself in trouble because with the symbols normally present in the fonts I do not cover the case. more or less I need to predict forty symbols, perhaps even some more so.
to solve the problem until now is to use a different block for each case that I can predict and as often there are combinations of more than one symbol over time I created a library of over a thousand blocks. obviously with problems in choosing the right block.
But now I have to find the way to drastically reduce the number to streamline the choice and use.

with a set of fonts, at most you can cover 256 symbols: so I assume that if you want to put all the blocks you will need at least 4 series!!!! What are you doing? !
but are you sure there is nothing on the network already done or similar?

In fact, with about thirty symbols I could cover all possible graphic combinations. In fact the size of my library depends on the fact that there are several combinations of these symbols, all provided by a special block. and they are the combinations that make the number rise.

What do you mean by "combination of symbols"?
Make an example.
You should also study the "forma" command ("shape" in English) and also the mkshape command of the express tools: I think they do in your case.
