Good morning to all
I am trying to make a configurator for a complex project and I would like to have help with the ability to make it freely configurable by the user.
for my experience of solidworks, I know that there is a possibility to insert a set of predefined configurations for parts/axis.
what I would need is to know how to do to be able to configure a set (and child parts) through the setting of values of certain quotas and activation/suspension of features and/or components.
Unfortunately, the complexity of my project does not allow me to define in advance all possible configuration combinations.

to explain better, I make an example on some parts of libraries recalled:
if I set variables (e.g. sketch odds) and some key features (e.g. optional processing).
is it possible to configure the part each time by setting the value of these variables freely (between a min and max)?
can be configured every time the part by choosing which optional jobs to activate or suspend?

I found in the publisher configuration a possible tool, with the possibility of having in the field configurator for the value of variables and checkboxes to activate the features.
However everything remains linked to a default configuration table that does not allow me to exceed the limits described above, or creates a configuration whenever there is a new combination of values.

how can I untie the configuration from predefined configurations and have more freedom?

explains well what you mean by predefined configurations, because it is a term that makes little sense and what you mean by undelete configurations

. .

I agree to be clearer.
On the other hand, one of the advantages of the publisher is precisely the ability to recognize if with input data, there is already a configuration that satisfies it, if not, creates a new one. and it is not a little thing, indeed.

If you have to create new configurations for your children...and you don't run from there, you need a macro.

simplified example:
I have a set with a dozen parts.
5 of these have an extrusion feature that I would like to configure

I would like to set up from the assemblies which of these 5 extrusions keep active and what to stay and also be able to set the value of extrusion quota.

by default configuration I mean that by how I managed the configurations so far, I go to create a configuration for every single case
so in the example I just made you I should create
a configuration with 0/5 active features
x configurations with 1/5 active features and each single extrusion share value
x configurations with 2/5 active features and each single extrusion share value

etc. .

as I wrote before, through the configuration publisher I saw that you can insert fields to let set the value of variables and checkboxes to activate the features.
However, it refers to a data table where each configuration is already default.

from the example I have done to you, it is already evident that the number of possible configurations (the combinations between active features and the value of extrusion quota) is very high.
also predetermining them not from advantages.

As I imagined, to manage children in that way you need a macro.
another alternative is using driveworks
