can you recommend a free converter from pdf to dwg to be able to get back from a pdf print of a design, the dwg with lines etc of the original design without having to remake it as head?

The subject was dealt with in this debate, and also in others:http://www.cad3d.it/forum1/showthread.php?t=861in the past I did some tests with wintopo that didn't work bad.
Keep in mind that however the result is far from ideal, you can get a mix of lines and curves that then you have to re-set manulamente, not to mention quotas texts and tables.
You just have to check if you don't want to do everything from scratch.

If you want to get decent things you have to go on stuff for a fee.
Have you tried with inkscape (free illustrator)?

I did not try to convert pdf to dwg. I have seen some converters online for this and I think some are fast and efficient.
