from 3d studio to inventor - mesh issues

Good morning, guys.

as from title I am making conversions of some models (internal architecture) from 3d studio to inventor.
as first step I make convert the 3ds file to step or iges by mechanical, then load it into inventor. and here begin the pains.

as I should apply to the texture model, I have the need (correct me if I'm wrong) to solidify or at least have a union of surfaces on which to work.

the model in inventor is recognized as a mesh. When they select mesh and mesh surfaces, the program inevitably nails. Is there another process to solidify the model without losing the head to solve problems of union of edges and surfaces?

place also the link to the file in case they want to go mad with me:
http://imagebox.altervista.org/disegno1.zip(the file is 23 mb). Thank you!

it is not possible to convert mesh into solids.

What exactly do you have to do? Why from max to inventor? for what purpose?

because I'm running a furniture project with inventor.
I don't have great 3dstudios so I thought I'd do it with the autodesk program.
even if it is not the best for interior renderings to me enough to have an idea of the environment.
the point is that almost all models for furniture, of course, are found for 3ds and similar. I wanted to convert them to fit them into my set and apply the various textures to make.
is it possible to do so without solidifying them?

hi claudio tries to stick the textures on the mesch, with other programs you can.
In the afternoon I try to do it with inventor.
Hi.

hello, already tried but in 3d environment does not even display them. If I try to make a render, to verify the actual presence of the texture, the program stops.
I know so much about the blind alley this thing...
