from solid inventor surface 2017

Hello everyone,

my name is mouad and I am a mechanical designer (design of electrogen groups)

use inventor 2017

I have an uneasy problem with a given engine in surface format that I can't turn into solid using the usual "join" command as I usually do

this I think is caused by the various errors contained in the design and certainly by the number of surfaces from which it is composed (more than 7000)

I am interested in turning this engine into solid because I have the urgent need to print it in 3d, since to print it I must export the file to stl format, the surfaces are not exactly displayed or at least recognized by that format.

I have seen many discussions about it but no one has solved my question
I apologize in advance if I place in a wrong place or unclearly.

the only thing you can do is attach the file, so we can see what state it is.

if the file contains errors you must repair them.
command repairs bodies, so much patience and in the end you will be able to combine everything and make it a solid.

the main reason why I would like it in solid is precisely to print it later with the 3d printer

so if it is possible also a conversion from surface to mesh or in general to a stl file.

Unfortunately it is expensive to repair 7000 surfaces.

I mold in 3d and make sure that with meshmixer you solve quickly import the file (I think it is in step) and it puts us less than a minute to convert it into solid repairing the open surfaces ... figured it is also used to repair scanning mesh .... Unfortunately inventor is not the right tool to do these operations....

if you want to use it to repair open polysuperfici or solids and then turn them into solids is a good program?

hello and excuse me for the delay of the answer.... checking I made a mistake telling you that meshmixer imports file steps.. This step should be done in inventor, i.e. export to stl or obj the surfaces subsequently amounts the meshmixer file and execute the makesolid command and the game is done... I leave you a command screshoot.

n.b. : it is clear that the missing surfaces establish the software how to build them according to other surfaces, so you don't expect the maximum accuracy... but if you need a 3d printing most often this is irrelevant... I don't know your file and so I can't establish that.

You know, I've been banging on these problems, you have to look around, you can't do everything with a good software.

The beauty is that they have it in the house, free of charge.
Can't they put it directly into the inventor?

I haven't tried yet, but if mouad says that he solved the problem, on that ugly surface he had, it must be interesting.

But be careful that the result is a mesh, not a polysurface, so if your intent is to solve complex surfaces with this method I have to give you a bad news, in the case of our friend the mesh result is good for 3d printing. Hi.

Luckily I don't have to deal with sup. complex or, if I have to do this, I'm better than mouad ones.

this I meant before the solid obtained is approximated to a mesh not. plus a solid obtained by mathematical modeling.. So information has been lost... mesh can be exported to stl and imported into inventor but will never be a solid recognized by inventor...
