I have an iges file of an emibacino and I would like to move from surface to solid body. Can someone tell me how to do this?
I attached the file

generally to transform a solid surface you can follow two roads (at least for what I am!):

If you have so many adjacent surfaces, use "join surfaces" with the option "try to form a solid"

if the surface is unique go on "experiment" and also here select the option to form a solid.

In your case, I opened the file with sw2010, I find errors in coupling between the different surfaces and neither of them works!

Seeing in section inside there are some stems that depart from the total surface and this prevents internal filling.
it may appear to me for a failed diagnostic, otherwise you have to internally correct your model leaving only a uniform and united shell.

good example of 3d scanning.

definitely a mesh was created with volumetric relief and then treated by who knows which software.

It is the latter passage that is fundamental to the correct creation of the surface and, if foreseen in the target set, of the resulting solid.

I tried importing with solidworks 2009 and planted in an attempt to correct the game between some faces.

edit:

after several attempts I managed to repair the faces. the games remain among the same.
keep goin'

...be the example of 3d scanning.
...
That's what I missed!
to achieve with sw a surface like this I think it takes a genius... or so much patience!
I had doubt, but now I feel better!

If, however, it is the only surface body from which to start, it is better to remodel it by going to erase faulty faces and to fill them with new ones, then to unite everything and "solidify".

You don't have to cancel them. . you have to touch them by hand as you would with red eyes of a photo, with photoshop :d

... that's what it's called reverse, if they give you a wrong file (of ciucci around there are so many ... doing things quickly) you find yourself with things like that.
If those who make the surfaces do it with judgment... solidify the first shot, because it has already tried who we have to do before you pass the file.

that you want ... is the sign of the times, there are those who model to 20 euros now (but they don't tell you how long they put us:-)).

what are the most suitable tools to retouch surfaces without overturning them?
depends on the conditions in which you are.
can be a cable for which you just run a surface diagnostic and ask the program to close them automatically.
It can be a tragedy, for which you have to do everything from scratch.
therefore the tools change according to the situations of departure.

rhinoceros offers excellent mesh control/repair tools.

but I assume you would need the original "points cloud"

I have never retouched an existing surface like the ones you have, it is easier to erase it and remake it:tongue:

you can first make one or more 3d sketches (spline for example) above the surface following the curves from one side to another, then at the ends of these splines do 2 more sketches that report the boundaries of the supeficie in contact with the others.
At this point you can make a "superior with delimitation" and fix it as you want above the existing one... until you find the right copy deletes the old one.

but this is my method, maybe there are better than I don't know!
