gives surface to solid

Hello to all of you.

I received the model of a stern in *.stp format, originally produced in think3. Once imported into inventor, the model presents itself as a single part characterized exclusively by surfaces. I ask you if there is the possibility of converting all the model into a solid maintaining all the details (which are not at all few).

try to select the file but do not open it, click on options and from there you should set a lot of things ..for example import the part to more solids.

Unfortunately it does not work: If I exclude surfaces and select only the solid entity disappears everything, the work window remains empty.

I'd rather not post the file since it's not my creation. cmq I ask you if inventor works better with the steps or with the iges; in the latter case I could ask for a new sending of the files and feel the opening in inventor.

I think he works better with the step...
I opened large assemblies from step files exported from solidworks and solidedge without finding big problems. by memory, I think I needed three attempts with if to find the right export configuration but, in the end, everything was "reconstructed" quietly.

My fear is that inventor may have some problem in rebuilding a "complex" surface like the hull of a ship.. .

copy the surfaces in the building, then in that environment you have a set of commands that serve to correct any open surfaces and therefore do not identify a closed volume to solidify.
