from time to time use vectorworks 2019 version in English using an imac 27 end 2013 equipped with 16 gb memory, video card from 1 gb processor intel i5 quadricore freq. 3.2 mherz.
I put myself in the head of improving the processing speed in rendering with renderworks and I acquired a new imac 27 of 2019 with intel processor at 3.7 mherz,
32 gb memory card video 8 gb. I compared the performance of the two machines thinking that the most recent one with 8 gb video card would give a result in term rendering speed well higher, but with my surprise the two machines gave the same result instead the most dated one completed the job first.
screen resolution was the same as the file to render.
I don't know why.
also the operating system used was the same.

Good morning cold,
I took a look at the two configurationsdo not specify which video card you have in the two configurations but in any case performance can depend on various factors including the operating system version and how efficient it is.
you have to understand if the renders you do are managed by the cpu or gpu... the second ws definitely is more performing but for curiosity how much is the difference in time?

thanks taurus77 for the interest: the performance difference of renderworks is sometimes even in favor of the old machine a few seconds or minutes depending on the file, but nevertheless I can say that the times are the same. the imac of late 2013 has an intel core processor i5 to 3,2 ghz with 16 gb of memory, graphics card nvidia geforce 755m 1 gb, the hard disk is a ssd from the tera, operating system mojave. the imac that I am buying on which I installed the same operating system is of the inch 2019 with screen 5k, processor intel core i5 6 core, memory 16 gb, graphics card radeon pro 580 x from 8 gb, hard disk ssd from 500gb.
today I installed on the car 2019 catalina to check if with this system everything improved but without any feedback. vectorwork spins but rendering times are the same.

I find that some rendering software is optimized to have maximum performance on gpu nvidia. Can it be one of those cases?

Do you have energy saving settings enabled?
I have not activated any options regarding energy saving. the doubt about the performance is relative to the 5k of the screen requiring the video card more performance and a greater amount of memory (I will add another 16 gb of ram).

lower the display resolution and set the same for both pcs, check step by step that both pcs have the same settings in everything. installed cinebench and launches on both a test with the open task manager follow how the trends of cpu and gpu go.

I have already tried to lower it in the new imac 2019, but without having any results. I'll try how you suggest me to carry out a control test (cinebench for imac? )

Yes... in the mac app store you should find the free application.

hello alfredo, if you come to head of the hippo update us here, I am very curious to understand where the problem is.
Thank you.

not yet, but as soon as I have some solution the public. I'm afraid it's connected to the 5k of the screen.
